The historical Italian fashion house Fendi finally experiences the taste of change after the tremendous loss of its beloved designer Karl Lagerfeld. Silvia Venturini Fendi, the third-generation successor of the founding family and responsible for menswear and accessories, will be assisted by the Dior Men director Kim Jones.

A striking turning point in the history of Fendi, which welcomes a young and experienced designer after more than 50 years. Mr. Jones will be accountable for Fendi Woman (haute couture and prêt-à-porter) and Fendi Fur. The decision of keeping the latter collection is controversial, considering the most recent sustainable and ethical trends of the general audience, but it could still result in a huge success thanks to the Fendi heritage.

Kim Jones will maintain his position as artistic director at Dior and he will unveil his first Fendi ready-to-wear collection in February during the Milanese Fall/Winter 2021 fashion week. Coming from a Central Saint Martin background, he previously worked for various brands such as Louis Vuitton. He succeeded in advancing a new conception of luxury Fashion, which has been associated with the streetwear culture. His vision has caught the attention of LVMH, which included him in the French group universe and finally boosted his career in 2018 when he was appointed Artistic Director at Dior Man. Kim Jones has incorporated innovative fabrics and materials as complementary to the most traditional and exclusive textiles and leathers. Also concerning volumes, he has paved the way for t-shirts and sneakers to be sold as high-end pieces, side by side with tailoring garments and precious accessories.

The new Fendi designer has been happily welcomed by Ms. Venturini, with whom he has developed a strong friendship. Also, the LVMH CEO Mr. Arnault has showed to be confident about this move, which most of the time has resulted in a positive experience for a fashion brand.
