PINK PP COLLECTION, THE NEW "ROSA VALENTINO"

Valentino's fall/winter 2022-23 ready-to-wear show titled "Pink PP Collection" featured 81 looks, 48 of which were total pink. The collection reduces the palette to a single color, PINK PP, created specifically for Valentino by Piccioli's collaboration with the Pantone Color Institute.

The designer strongly wanted to reiterate the concept of less is more, in fact the use of pink provides a visual shock to the eye, drawing more attention to the wearer. The use of a single color highlights the way the clothes drape the body. "Rosa Valentino" was the predominant color throughout the show, but with an interval of 33 total black outings.

Behind Piccioli's choice, to minimize the collection to only two colors, lies a message of great inclusiveness: "The cancellation of color allows the amplification of the variety of bodies, attitudes, physicality. Models and models walk the runway wearing both all-pink and all-black outfits and, as stated by the designer, "you don't see gender, only people."

Oversized garments remain a constant among Valentino's creations, as well as comfortable fit pants paired with mesh tank tops, box-cut jackets with collars, t-shirts and long cabans. The theme of comfort is prevalent in the collection, but there are also sequins, sequins, bows, feathers, transparencies and embroideries that make the collection unique in its spectacularity.

Each garment turns out to be different thanks to the materials and lines that characterize it but without ever overpowering the wearer. "Each piece in the collection has its own design process, as each garment is born out of respect for people. The garment should not simply cover the body" is how Pierpaolo Piccioli explains his works.
